Samsung Keyboard GIF functionality on my AT&T S8 but only after having to side load the newer messaging app and "sticker pack" that should have been included in the Oreo OTA update.īut its a pain and should have never been required in the first place.CUSTOMER RATINGS AND REVIEWS TERMS OF USE It is possible to actually do some side loading of the newer Samsung messaging app and the "sticker pack" that all the other carriers got in their update to enable the GIF keyboard on the AT&T S8 It will probably never be added or it will with no mention of it. Gotta love the inconsistency that will never ever get any explanation what's so ever from AT&T or Samsung. But here we are and at least two more updates since the Oreo release have come out and still it's not there. My guess would be Samsung because I can't think of a single reason why AT&T would care about such a feature and request for Samsung to remove it for them. This is what for some reason only us on AT&T did not get but all other US carriers did (including Sprint).ĭon't know who is to blame here. Then at 2:39 he plain as day shows and demonstrates the GIF functionality samsung added to their keyboard with the Oreo update. Here is a link to a video below of a guy with a T-mobile S8 and Verizon S8 showing the new features from the Oreo update they received, At 0:31 he states that one is a T-mobile S8 and the other is a Verizon. Verizon's S8 got it, T-Mobile, and Sprint all got the GIF functionality added to the Samsung keyboard with the Oreo update. At the very least I know for sure we're the only one of the US carrier S8's to not get it. The AT&T S8 and S8+ were the only S8's to NOT get the GIF button on the keyboard with the Oreo update. Just to be clear ONLY the AT&T version did not for no reason given. Below is proof the T-mobile and Verizon S8's came with the GIF ability from the update, and I was able to get it working on my AT&T S8+ after having to side load the newer samsung messaging app, and Samsung sticker pack that was included with every other carriers OTA update. Gboard had nothing to do with it and is not required, Only AT&T decided to leave it out for some genius reason. Every US carrier Oreo update for the S8/S8+ had the GIF functionality added to the samsung keyboard. I'm assuming you meant to say the S8 not S9 did not come with the GIF and sticker functionality added to the keyboard in the Oreo update.
